Alex Atkins

Head of Design

I develop strategic and compelling graphic design and marketing solutions for clients. My logo and publication work has been featured in collections of the best graphic design work in the world. With more than 35 years of experience, I employ a cross-pollination model, drawing best practices from start-ups, corporations, universities, public and private schools, nonprofits, and small businesses.

I work on the following types of projects: websites, logos, corporate identity, magazines, brochures, newsletters, ads, slide decks, and direct mail. Clients include AT&T, Oracle, Hewlett-Packard, Siemens, and Roche. I also specialize in designing fundraising, admissions, and alumni relations marketing materials for universities and schools. Clients include Stanford University, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, UCSF, Bellarmine College Preparatory, Saint Francis, Sacred Heart Schools, Campbell Union School District, and Bullis Charter School.

Education is one of my passions. I have taught graphic design and typography at the university level and mentor high school and college students. I am one of the founders of Bullis Charter School, one of the highest-performing K-8 charter schools in the state for the past 17 years. I am the author of Serendipitous Discoveries from the Bookshelf, based on my blog Atkins Bookshelf which promotes critical thinking and lifelong learning.
